Niwot High of Colorado head coach Kelly Christensen reflects on the Cougars capturing both the boys and girls team sweepstakes titles for the second time in three years at the Desert Twilight Festival at Toka Sticks Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz. The girls swept the first five spots to achieve a perfect 15-point performance, led by sophomore Addison Ritzenhein prevailing with a 5-kilometer effort of 16:44.9. Ritzenhein eclipsed the fastest prep female mark in Toka Sticks history of 17:03.9 achieved in 2013 by former Niwot standout Elise Cranny at NXR Southwest. The Cougars also smashed the all-time lowest girls sweepstakes score of 25 points, established in 2011 by Xavier College Prep of Arizona at Toka Sticks. Rocco Culpepper was second in 15:11. 1 and Quinn Sullivan finished fourth in 15:17.4 in the boys sweepstakes race for Niwot, which had five scorers in the top 20 to triumph against ThunderRidge High of Colorado by a 47-127 margin. The Cougars also won the boys championship race with a 42-77 victory against Durango High from Colorado, led by Keegan Geldean winning in 15:40.3.
